Richia Wright

Richia Wright

Richia Wright  has been a member of the Special Olympics Bahamas family for the past ten years and has consistently trained and competed in the sports of athletics and bocce. Richia is one of many athletes from the island of Abaco, that looked the monster hurricane Dorian right in the eye and said “not today”. Relocating to New Providence after the hurricane did not deter Richia from her Special Olympics pursuits as she continued to train with her counterparts in New Providence.  Richia has competed in a number of local and national competitions but one of her proudest moments was to participate in a local Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics on the island of Abaco several years ago, especially with many  persons having doubts as to whether she was capable of doing it. Now back home in Murphy Town, Abaco, she has her sporting sights set on qualifying for the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games, and will spend the next year working to accomplish this. She is currently a trainee at the Starfish Enterprise at the Every Child Counts school, and is also a member of Special Olympics Bahamas’ Quiz Group as well as the Global Messenger training program.
