Christopher Rolle

Christopher Rolle  Has been an athlete with Special Olympics Bahamas for approximately 15 years, and has become a very rare “one sport” athlete. While Christopher did attend the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece as a judo competitor, he has since focused his training and competition efforts solely on athletics.  Christopher was one of nine males shortlisted to make the 2019 Special Olympics World Games team for Special Olympics Bahamas and never doubted whether he would make the cut. His hard work and dedication paid off as he was selected to be a part of the men’s 4x400m relay team, which returned from the games in Abu Dhabi with a silver medal. Christopher is a man of few words who gives it his all to get the job done.

Daneir Rolle, aka Gentle Giant

Danier Rolle (aka Gentle Giant) – Danier has been a member of Special Olympics Bahamas for approximately nine (9) years and trains regularly in the sports of athletics, basketball and bowling. This “Gentle Giant” is a member of the Global Messenger Training program and has been a member of the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Bahamas since 2019. Danier was selected to the World Games team in 2015, where he travelled with the Bahamas delegation to Los Angeles, California to compete in the Special Olympics World Summer Games. Danier was successful in securing two gold medals and a silver medal, the 100m walk event, the soft ball throw and the standing long jump. Since joining Special Olympics Bahamas, he has experienced a complete transformation from being introverted, to his present day sociable and friendly characteristics.

Stephen Russell, AKA Goliath

Stephen Russell (aka Goliath) is a native of Grand Bahama island, and has been participating in Special Olympics Bahamas training and competition events for the past four years. Currently in his final year at The Beacon School in Grand Bahama, Stephen has already taken on several leadership roles and is proving himself to be a very gifted and talented individual. Stephen was chosen to attend a Unified Leadership Workshop in October of 2019, which was hosted by Special Olympics Europe/Eurasia, and held in Dublin, Ireland. Being the only athlete from the entire Caribbean to attend this workshop, a lot would be riding on his “Goliath” like shoulders. Since then, Stephen has been named to his school’s Pandemic Team and has been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of Special Olympics Bahamas. As an athlete, he has competed in numerous local and national bocce tournaments, and was successful in capturing a gold and a bronze medal in bocce doubles and singles, at the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi.

CONGRATULATIONS are extended to Mr. Stephen “Goliath” Russell on his successful completion of the Special Olympics Health Messenger Training course. The course was conducted virtually over a four week period, where participants were actively engaged in presentations, discussions and assignments covering various aspects of healthy living.
Keep up the good work Stephen, the entire Special Olympics Bahamas family is extremely proud of you.
